I've been using Glimpsecatcher and I have like Off Phase On Phase.
So if i do this way (as it undertands microseconds)
86000 (off phase) - 67000 (onphase)

Is this the way you are doing ?
I've 60cm approx height from valve to base.
What I assume is that you are using large pool with 2/3cm depth water ?

I really loved your all impression and was just trying to have same sort of idea to achieve but I usually gets very disturb sculptres. may be the guargum based liquid is just poping into micro droplets so fast.

I've tried to understand flash and camera sync wit PC sync cable but couldnt achive so using 1/4th speed or little lower and shoot flashes with glimpsecatcher.

your guidance will be so much helpful.

Sure I can share my settings. But I do not know if you can use it for your setup. I have a self-programmed controller and a self-built hardware.
For the photos I've used 2 valves. These are 50cm away from the water surface.
Settings:
Drop 1: Start Valve Open 86ms 67ms (here I get 2 drops)
Drop 2: Start Valve Open 269ms 46.5 ms
Drop 3 Start Valve Open 316ms 12ms
Flash: Start at 586ms

These are the settings for Photo 2

I control my strobes with my controller.

I've got a question for masters and regular droppers.

How thick should be the dropping liquid?
I've been testing my liquid and recent days found that my liquid is breaking up a lot with so many micro droplets flying in air when collide.

does that mean I should thicken more or less ? Posting one example.

Expecting kind suggestions and guidance.

Nach Tagen im Forum bin ich nun auf Druckertinte zum Färben gestoßen.

Da sehen die Farben ja in der Tat (haha Wortspiel) kraeftiger aus.
Meinst du mit Druckertinte das du einfach Druckerpatronen nimmst, oder gibt es da ein Flaeschchen iwo zu kaufen, Links oder tips wo es das zu kaufen gibt sind auserordentlich erwuenscht...

Hallo.

Ich verwende einen Nachfüllsatz für Druckerpatronen.
Man muss das Wasser schon sehr, sehr kräftig färben, dafür reicht aber schon ein bisschen Tinte aus.

Ich habs von Amazon.
Einfach nach "Druckertinte Nachfüllset" suchen...

da hast jetzt einen großen Schritt nach vorne gemacht und das in so kurzer Zeit

Nr.2 ist schon sehr gut.
wäre evl.noch besser wenn unten mehr zu sehen wäre,so kann man das Wasser nicht sehen.

Das mit den Ventilen hast schon selber bemerkt und mit der Druckertinte auch.Ich nehme auch Drucketinte.
Bilden sich bei dir auch Luftblasen in der Wanne?


Du hast dir auch die hellsten Farben rausgesucht Gelb und Grün, probiere Blau und Rot, die sind etwas kräftiger.


zum Thema Ausleuchtung:

das wirst du durch probieren selber rausfinden müssen um das beste Licht für deine Bilder zu finden.

Hallo andy.

Luftblasen bilden sich bei mir eigentlich nur wenn ich Klarspühler verwende. Ansonsten hält es sich sehr in Grenzen.

Bezüglich des Zuschnitts der letzten Bilder...
Mir würden sie auch wesentlich besser gefallen, wenn unten mehr vom Wasser zu sehen wäre. Ich habe aber leider einen zu flachen Kamerawinkel gewählt. Somit habe ich den unteren Teil wegschneiden müssen. Ausserdem ist mir der Blitz von oben zum Beleuchten des Fußes ausgefallen, somit war der Fuß komplett schwarz. Das hat nicht wirklich schön ausgesehen. Somit war das eine Notlösung.

Beim nächsten Mal werd ich die Kamera etwas steiler stellen und probieren, die Kante meines Tropfgefäßes durch die Beleuchtung zu "vertuschen".

Ok three days and am still figuring out how to do like many are doing the same way again.

My problem is whenever I start again with same settings it behave differently.

Can someone guide if there's any kind of calculation of milisecond or microsecond to figure out when to shoot flash ?

have to attempt 50/60 times to figure the collision. Am using glimpsecatcher.

been using two flash behind 4mm frosted glass but not getting the lighting results even at both 1/32 power or 1/64. not enough light is possing or sometimes it just giving two hsarp blow .

if i place flashes on distance to glass the light become so low at 1/32.

have got one vendor in my location of plexiglass so question is which one to buy ?

what thickness color and opacity I should ask him ?

I just came back from purchasing of matt acrylic sheet and it worked. right now doing trials.

can you tell me how do you calculate the timing of firing flash ?

today's experiment

today I've added acrylic sheet instead frosted glass and DIY softfox behind acrylic with one light.

Made few attempt about 150+ to see what happens and got few shapes .

still need someone to guide me how to calculate timings of collision.

using Glimpsecatcher.

Your suggestions and tips would help me achieve.
Yet to find best material for making water pool.

Hey ich schreib hier nun zum ersten mal..

Ich verfolge das Thema schon bisschen länger und bin echt begeistert!

Ich versuche mich auch ab und zu an solchen Bildern.. Allerdings habe ich keine Magnetventile sondern mache es über einen Schlauch wo eine Spritze angeschlossen ist.. sobald ein Tropfen fällt kommt er durch eine IR Lichtschranke die dann die Kamera über IR auslöst..

Meine Probleme sind noch im Moment das ich halt die Tropfen ziemlich ungenau gebe über die Spritze und das ich nur einen Blitz hab..
Damit ist es ziemlich schwer das Licht zusetzen
Mir ist bis jetzt nur ein guter TaT gelungen..
Ich probier mich gleich nochmal solche Bilder zumachen.. mal gucken was bei rauskommt

Ok ..
today I made fresh liquid as per measurement given here 1ltr 5gram/1teaspoon
it worked. Unfortunately no interesting collisions.

My valve is default CEME given by Glimpsecatcher (Claude) no extra nozzle attached.

Am not getting the things as missing surely something.

My height is 60cm base is bowl for illustration almost similar to what tobias used in his example Reference from his site.

diameter about 6"/7" and depth almost same filled entirely.

Dropping 65ms opening so get bigger bounce and am getting as well.
Somehow problem is my bouncing liquid breath is thicker than what usually am seeing here people get thinner line.

Also the top is getting heavier and not leaving liquid as expected it should leave the line and go in air. Getting weird collisions. Made about 100+ attempt today also all failed.

Am looking to do some ********* but unfortunately some uneven disks happening.
Cleaned my valve today before use check alignment was vertically good.

Can plz plz plz someone guide ?

Well just finished one session 250ml drops 150+ frames and first time I got some nice tats xxl. got the variation of timing set this time to get the shape in form. yet the tiny droplets in air distracts a lot not the great but as first achievement am happy with this.

used pan having 6cm water this time. Lighting is not the great as I've diy one flash diffuser with homemade gel's. seems like have to build another diffuser easy square frame against two flash one.
This is Unedited raw just sharpen a bit for web compression.

Finally my Glimpsecatcher made me happy lots to learn.
Plz suggest how to achieve straight stem instead dancing.
