F Nikon d750 or d850?

Hi guys,

I am looking to switch from crop to full-frame camera but I don't have a lot of experience. I used so far a nikon d5600.

The nikon d850 is kinda over my budget and I'd go for a 750 but before I invest I'd like to know if the d750 is worth buying or should I better save up for the d850?

I'll use it for newborn/baby/family photography. I am doing it so far as a hobby but I'm planning to slowly turn it into a business.

d750 is more than enough... if you don't know what to do with the "more" of the d850.. you will never miss it.
take d750 .... it s a fine camera

For your kind of photography the D750 is fine. The D750 is also better at highiso than the D850. In rooms where there is not so much light, this can be an advantage

I have four 4 FF cams - if I had to decide for only one, the D750 would be my choice.

Woud recommend D750 as well. Best value for money and a universal tool.
If you are on a budget, get the Nikon 28-105mm AF-D Zoom. You can find it around € 100 used. It is also quite universal to use.

I also would recommend the D750. A second hand model doesn’t make sense in my opinion, because the gap between used and new is too small.

I had to make a similar decision for a project and finally decided on a compromise: A little-used D810 (<30,000 releases).
I highly recommend it over a D750 if there are not sufficient funds for a D850.

I love my D750, but personally in your situation I'd prefer to save for the D850.

Its Nikons 100th anniversary camera and thus a piece of history, and Nikon really went all out on it; its their masterpiece.

It has of course better build quality. It has a great viewfinder. It has the next generation autofocus. It has a great interface. It has practical advantages, like 1/8000 sec shutter speed and a more strict rangefinder that allows to focus manual focus lenses more accurately.

The sensor is current technology, backlit, dual gain, base ISO 64, with amazing output; some even call the D850 "mini medium format". You would also need the glas for that, of course.

The D750 of course is smaller, more lightweight, has this awesome grip and is certainly more silent (Nikon didnt care about shutter loudness with the D850). It also had four recalls though. On the upside, many D750 can get a free shutter replacement.

Well, that depends upon your needs. Unlike the D850, its not as good in low light conditions. It has the same autofocus and the autofocus covers the frame a bit better as the D750, but its performance is slighty behind the D750. It offers a bit less resolution than the D850 and has neither backlit nor dualgain technology just yet. The D810 has no flipply screen, which in some situations is super helpful. The D810 has no touch screen. The D810 of course has the most silent shutter any full frame Nikon DSLR offers.

I guess you meant: the D810 has almost the same low-light performance as the d750. The difference between D850 and D750 is about only 1/3 EV, between D810 and D750 less than 1/10 EV. Under normal conditions an amateur will not notice that little difference.

But the D810 has a much better resolution. Not just because of 36 megapixels vs. 24 megapixels, but also because the D810 (like the D850) does not have an AA filter different to the D750.

There is depending on specific usage one possible big disadvantage of the D850 over the D810 (also the D750): The D850 does not have an built-in flash. I personally like to use little flashes as fill-in light in bright sunlight.
