Next-Generation Image Sensors
50-megapixel CMOS Sensor
In pursuit of higher-density CMOS sensors, Canon has developed a 50-megapixel APS-H size CMOS sensor that realizes more than twice the image resolution of 10-megapixel-class digital single-lens reflex cameras. Even when used for wide-angle shots, the new CMOS sensor enables the identification of a license plate number 300 meters away.
The new high-density CMOS sensor offers a range of potential applications, including parts inspection systems in factories, and parking lot surveillance cameras.
