(FT5) Panasonic G3 with a complete new design (new sensor and FullHD)

We just learned that Panasonic is going to introduce a completely new designed G3 camera. The new body looks different than the current G1/G2 cameras. But it will not have a “rangefinder look” like the famous DMC-LC1. One of our sources told us that the new body form is very close to the Samsung NX10. We received rumors saying that Panasonic wasn’t happy with the Panasonic G10 and Panasonic G2 sales. That’s why they anticipated the release of a new G camera having new specs and new design. As you know the G10 has been discontinued and the G2 price is decreasing.

The new sensor is the same that will be used by future Olympus cameras. We have no reliable info yet but we received rumors about a new 14-15 megapixel sensor from unknown sources. What’s certain is that the G3 can take FullHD videos (but not at 24mbit/s like the new GH2).

steht folgendes:
mFT compatible (eh klar)
und FT with optional adapter, ist dass ein Adapter wie bisher oder glaubt ihr dass dieser ein schneller AF bieten wird.
Es steht weiter geschrieben dass der G3 die gleichen Sensoren wie die neuen Olympus Modelle haben wird.

oder wird FT optional nur für jene sein die die Hoffnung (so wie ich) auf FT noch nicht gänzlich aufgegeben haben.

Wo steht denn mFT compatible und FT with optional adapter? Ansonsten hat der benötigte FT/MFT-Adapter nichts mit der AF-Geschwindigkeit zu tun.

Panasonic wird mit der G3 einen neuen Sensor anbieten. D. h. im Grunde nur, dass der (alte) 12 Megapixel-Sensor einen Nachfolger und sehr wahrscheinlich ein paar Megapixel mehr bekommt. Da es ebenfalls Gerüchte um weitere MFT-Kameras von Olympus (E-P3 und ein Pro-Modell) gibt, kann man davon ausgehen, dass dort ebenfalls der neue Panasonic-Sensor verbaut wird.

(FT5) Panasonic G3 leaked!

The new Panasonic G3 is going to be announced tomorrow (May 12) at 8:00 am London time. And here is the first picture! The new G3 is 25% smaller than the current Panasonic G2. It features a new 15.8 Megapixel sensor but unlike the GH2 sensor it is not a multiaspect sensor. It records in FullHD, has the same ultra fast autofocus of the GH2 and goes up to 6400 ISO. It takes pictures at 4 fps (frame per second) and has a 3 inch articulating LCD. The G3 is a much more touch oriented camera than the G2. The left dial is gone, the Q-button moved on the trash button (just an example on how Panasonic tried to remove as much button as possible). The G3 will be priced at $649 with kit lens. One of the biggest changes is the design. It has a bit of Samsung NX10 touch what do you think? It has the “G” mark only and not “G3″…interesting.
