Hi all,
Sorry if I write in English.. I'm still learning German.. very langsam.. :)
I am an Italian photographer and I've just moved in Germany.
I'm new in this forum, I would like to share my work and see if there are some other Timelapse photographers in my area, I live in the wonderful city of Düsseldorf.
Here is one of my best Timelapse videos: https://vimeo.com/20211531

Thanks DrMatrix, glad you like it

really nice Work but a little bit too long :)

Big like! I love timelapse videos, yours are very awesome! Especially the sequences down the rooftop and at the beginning of the video are my favorite ones! Those clouds are very interesting, too! :) You've got many skills! I look forward to see more videos like that in the future! :) One question by the way: How many photos did you shoot to get this video complete? :D :)

thanks for watching! and for your kind comments too, always appreciate ;) I've been in Miami for 2 month shooting this video and this other one https://vimeo.com/20122516 was really an incredible opportunity..
I've shoot 70 Timelapse, 214.494 single photo, 250GB of material more or less.. I've postprod with Photomatix for HDR image, Afterefects to create .mov clips and finalcutPro for the final edit.

Hi Edoardo,

Great stuff, thank you. Did you really use the shutter for timelapse? I think you know the ability of Magic Lantern for Canon EOS cameras, where you can capture videos with <1fps directly. I tried this (and normal timelapse with automatic shutter), but I want to lern more and test a little bit more for my next journey to asia in autumn. It seems the effect (street/lights at night) looks pretty ok with 1fps direct to video, but I am not sure about this. What frame rate do you use for the movements of clouds? (at the day) 1/min?

What did you use for the really smooth movements? Or is this a tiny crop/movement in the much bigger pictures?

David.

Wow! I saw your pictures on flicker.. amazing.

Yes I know Magic Lantern, and you are right, shutter timelapse is not always necessary. I think Magic Lantern can be good for very quick timelapses but not for any kind.. For exemple I've done one advertising for a bank in Tilt-Shift https://vimeo.com/15560421 for that particularly timelapse I needed 5/7 fps and with Magic Lantern is not possible.. also for HDR timelapse I'm not sure it works fine, anyway is a really nice tool and I definitely have to try it.

About your question:
- for clouds timelapse I think fps should be between 2 and 10 fps, but is only my personal point of view.
- about smooth pan/tilt movement, in that video is all done in post. Now I have dynamicperception dolly and motorized head Merlin. Soon I will post some clips.

One question: How did you manage the exposure in dusk and dawn situations? It looks awesome. I did some tries a few months ago, but it never reached the quality of your timelapse... :)

 you ask me about THE problem.. All Timelapse photographers call the flawless transition from day to night 'The Holy Grail' due to it's difficulty..
there are different techniques, some one use automatic shutter and after try to reduce flickering, other (like me) use manual change of shutter exposer and Then in post take the multiple videos, overlap each segment and cross fade between.
the best way would be to use a Software Controlled Ramping for the shutter, but I've never tried yet.
