Ich will gar nicht behaupten, dass nur jedes Fünfte 8-18 scharf ist--- da wäre ich jetzt falsch verstanden worden...
Mir ist das so passiert, das kann auch Pech sein... so was ist nicht repräsentativ.
Mich hat es erstaunt, dass die Schwankungsbreite so groß ist und oft weit von den Testergebnissen, die immer so gerne zitiert werden, entfernt ist.
Roger Cicalla von lensrentals.com hat sich schon öfter zu den Serienschwankungen von mFT-Objektiven geäußert und diese auch geprüft,
anhand von vielen Exemplaren, da es ja eine große Verleihfirma für fotografische Geräte ist,
die die meisten Reparaturen selbst durchführt und entsprechende Messgeräte und Werkzeuge besitzt.

It's not horridly worse, but it's a bit worse.
It's counterintuitive, but more expensive lenses aren't much better than less expensive ones. That's no different than SLR lenses, generally.
More expensive is because of designs, exotic glass, etc. Not because they test them differently.
m4/3 repair in the US (I can't speak for other places, and it is different in other places) is not great, and for optics not even good.
When buying stuff for me, I tend towards the 'nearly as good but way less expensive' lenses. In m4/3 I tend to be more of that ilk.
If I was buying expensive I'd be sure it was from a retailer that takes it back because sending it to the service center isn't likely to help optically (unless there's a mechanical problem affecting the optics)."
Nichts anderes habe ich auch empfohlen.
Ich habe nicht dazu aufgefordert, 5 Exemplare auf einen Schlag zu Durchtesten zu bestellen. Das habe ich selbst auch nicht getan.
Es war eher eine Abfolge von sehr frustrierenden Erfahrungen, die so nicht geplant war.
Und was vielleicht durchscheint ist, dass ich über Panasonic verärgert bin.
