Ich habe das alte 80-200/2,8 ED in der "Schiebevariante", es ist die Facelift-Version "AF-D". Rockwells Review bezieht sich auf die noch ältere Variante "ohne D". Geändert außer der "Distance"-Implementierung nur der Fokuslimiter, der ist nun kein "Ringschalter" mehr, sodern ein kleiner Schiebeschalter auf der Seite des Fronttubus, meins ist also genau so eines:

- es ist ziemlich schwer und fühlt sich entsprechend wertig an, alles was man sieht und anfasst ist aus Metall
- ich finde die Abbildungsleistung großartig, das deckt sich auch mit der Bewertung bei Ken Rockwell.
Kens Review bezieht sich auf den Vorgänger, der noch den Fokuslimiter als Ring hat, ansonsten aber identisch sein dürfte. Seine Einschätzungen sind ziemlich euphorisch:

The only way you'll see any lack of perfection is by shooting at f/2.8 and looking in the farthest corners of the full FX frame. If you do this, and if you go out of your way to have something in focus in the corners (like a distant line of trees atop a mountain ridge), you may see a slight loss of contrast, but no loss of detail.
Stop it down to f/4 or f/5.6 and it's perfect even for that. Let's face it, most people use these lenses in ways that never have anything sharp and in focus in the corners. I have to go out of my way to test this, and when I did, this lens is still spectacular.

einzig sehr nah an der Naheinstellgrenze fokussiert meines nicht ganz verlässlich, es kommt dann hin und wieder vor, dass der Fokusindex "scharf" sagt, es ist aber nicht ganz genau fokussiert. Wenn man das weiß, kein Problem.
Ich hoffe, dass meins noch lange funktioniert.
Die Preise dafür sind günstig, es gibt scheinbar noch recht viele davon, es sollen aber auch viele dejustierte Exemplare unterwegs sein.
Natürlich ist der AF-Speed nicht so wie bei heutigen Pro-Gläsern, aber wenn man den Limiter einsetzt ist der AF auch hinreichend flott. Es ist auch eine fantastische Portrait-Linse, man muss nur dann natürlich verstärkt den AF um die Naheinstellgrenze herum im Auge behalten.
